Materials Fibers

Fibers

Fast-growing, low-tech and often made close to home.

Reed, straw, rattan and paper. These fibres absorb sound while adding a handmade, tactile character that industrial materials rarely manage.

Available woven, bundled or pressed, in natural or dyed tones, as panels, screens and ceiling elements.

  • EKSTA

    Grasscloth wall covering

Natural grass fibres woven onto a backing and hung like wallpaper. Wall to wall, with a texture you can feel.

  • PIRA

    Bamboo end grain

Short lengths of bamboo packed end-on, so every tube becomes a small chamber for sound. Natural, warm and full of depth.

  • FARNA

    Wave relief tile

Tiles in pressed natural fibre with a soft wave in the surface. Laid side by side, the waves flow on from tile to tile.

  • GLIMA

    Coiled jute

Jute rope wound into a tight spiral and stitched coil to coil. Rough to the touch, soft to the ear.

  • RINDA

    Rattan ceiling panel

Woven cane panels set into a slim ceiling grid. Light filters through the weave, and the absorber above it does the quiet work.

  • IVRA

    Ceiling raft

A suspended raft with an oak edge and a face of herringbone-woven straw. It hangs below an existing ceiling, with no building work needed.

  • BALKA

    Cane and honeycomb panel

Open cane webbing over a core of folded paper honeycomb. You see the weave, and the cells behind it do the absorbing.

  • HOLMA

    Reed panel

Bundled reed on a frame, a traditional material put to new use.
