About Norfelt
Where design meets sound
Acoustic design and advice about acoustics and materials, accompanying the creative and building process from design to realization.
01Who we are
Based in the heart of Amsterdam, Norfelt was born from a passion for design and architecture shared by founding designers Phoebe Ohayon and Maikel van der Wouden. For more than a decade, they have worked in branding and innovation, where design meets sound, for multinationals such as Mercedes-Benz, McDonald’s, Microsoft, and more.
Clients don’t ask for acoustics; they ask for comfort.
Together we shape the comfort they feel.
02At the heart of our work
At the heart of their work are people: the clients they collaborate with, the craftspeople they build with, and everyone who will one day live, work or gather in the spaces they help design. Norfelt believes a room is only truly finished when it feels right, and that feeling depends as much on what you hear as on what you see.
Always exploring and open to new collaborations, Norfelt brings together two ways of experiencing a space: a designer’s eye for how it looks and feels, and an engineer’s ear for how it sounds. Phoebe and Maikel’s background in design, branding and engineering helps designers and architects treat aesthetics and acoustics as one design question rather than two. They make smart choices early in the process instead of fixing problems afterwards. Every space deserves to give everyone who enters that hard-to-describe sense of a space that simply feels right.
A room is only truly finished when it feels right.
